Voting Power Calculator 1.50! 2004-02-06 16:52:34

The moment you've all been waiting for has come. The Official release of VPC1.50. I'd like to thank Shadow- for hosting the files, and give a big Fuck You to Lycos for never sending me my activation letter and just being a real crappy hosting site. Anywho, enjoy the program. I think most of you will enjoy it. Couple quick notes, its already been Rared and Zipped as a folder so no need to make your own folder, just extract and use. You can check out the readme for Versions history, Copyright, Trademark info, etc. Enough with the chit-chat here's what you want

Zipped Version

RARed Version

Post those comments, I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Eh, that's pretty cool. Reassuring to see that I'll be getting the old VP up quicker than I thought I would do...

If you continue to improve this, what would be a nice idea is to have a "predict the future" option, whereby you can click it and it'll tell you (making the assumption that the lv30 user deposits every day, or you can't realistically program it) what your voting power will be in, say, a week, month, six months and year.

Seems a useful option, the first thing I did would be to quickly check what my VP would look like down the line.

I also think that it would look better if your b/s % increase was selectable from a drop down box... and yes, I did miss the original "give me tips for improvements" topic. Or rather I didn't think until I played with 1.50 :-)

Do you guys have the VB6 run times? If not that might be causing the problem

It's good and all, but I think it gave me the wrong answer. I'm listed as 4.93 votes on my profile, but the program shows a 4.98. Am I just putting the wrong number in for Level 30? Is my Level too low? Is anyone else getting this problem?

It will only Calculate VP correctly if you're LV9+

Thought so. I've got a bit of a ways to go then.

I'm getting the 'Unexpected Error' too, for both the rar'ed and zipped versions. I don't know what the hell that VB6 run time thing is...

I'll probably read this in ten minutes and facepalm. - RageVI

LOL! You didn't warn me it was going to be released in a new topic. Good thing I checked General on a whim and noticed this a few topics away from the suggestions topic. #;-}>

anyway, it kicks total ass. The only error I could find was when I clicked Help it shutdown with an error. The credits, about the author, and actual VP calc all worked fine.

Oh, and while it's still 0.000 on the base VP, I was glad to see you took my suggestion and extended it to 0.0000 on the total VP. That should make checking and comparing VP between people very easy when I'm updating teh VP ranks. Thanks for the mention in the credits, too! Very funny list of thank yous.

Excellent job, Nemesis!

At 2/6/04 05:08 PM, jonthomson wrote: Eh, that's pretty cool. Reassuring to see that I'll be getting the old VP up quicker than I thought I would do...

Oh, it looks a lot faster when you can just add 30 or 40 exp to you and HT's current total and see what it's going to be like in a few days. Actually waiting until those few days elapse is the long part. #;-}>

That would be an excellent idea. Just enter in the amount of days in the future you want to see a result from both you and the lv30 user depositing every day... yes, very very cool.

I also think that it would look better if your b/s % increase was selectable from a drop down box... and yes, I did miss the original "give me tips for improvements" topic. Or rather I didn't think until I played with 1.50 :-)

I suggested the drop down box in that other topic, but... eh, it doesn't matter that much. And hey, you can always type in figures that AREN'T currently b/p % bonuses and see what they'd do to your base VP as well. #;-}>

Why does EVERY single thing have to have a great GUI? Notepad is a great program because it is SIMPLE. I can load 10 notepad windows and experience no slowdown on my 6 year old computer. Increasing the complexity of a program's GUI is going to worthlessly increase the strain on people's computers. This program is for a FUNCTIONAL purpose, it needs no frills. Besides, it already shows rankbadges, that's good enough!
