I detect sad, happy, hopeful, and regretful tones within this piece. In this I see the end of a terrible war, and the victors head home, which was ravaged during the years of the war. The heroes look at their city and are saddened by its state. Sadness then leads to sorrow for loved ones and comrades lost in the war. Then regret, of actions that could have been taken, lives that could have been saved. But then it turns to happiness and hope, as families and lovers are reunited. They are then reminded of the possibility that this could happen again. So, with love and resolve in their hearts, they start to rebuild and live life like it was once again. Kudos to s8nsangl for your review. I expanded on your musing but what you described was right on target. A grand piece Winters, once again

subtle sweet and silenced

It sounds like the queit hope fullness that is found after war time. They all want to give up but their will to survive is strong and I think that's what the dulcet yet strong tones tell you " Even when death is so close and it is bearing on your heel you must press on, you must continue, you must never give up"

Never ceases to amaze me how many tlented people are on newsground and you could well be the next classical muscian.

I wish I could come up with songs like this but the problem I have is i don't have the software nor do I play the some of the instruments (violin etc) and I really have trouble making what I play on the piano sound somthing vagley what I hear in my head (not very good at telling notes just by hearing).
