woah shit, i remember when i had my first week in fl studio LOL, i don't really use it much, i'm more geared towards Ableton (which you should check out).

anyways, since you use FL, you should check out GMS, you can get a lot of cool ambient sounds. also try to change the percussion pattern up. i know when i started it was KICK ON EVERY 4th AND CLAPS ON EVERY 8th.

it feels weird when you change up the patterns, because when you do, your not use to it. add some kicks in weird places, you can keep your listeners in tune.

most importantly, big melodies don't make the track, sometimes it's a simplistic loop, a couple of notes.

try to keep everything as simplistic as you can.
