Yes, these are all instruments and effects were made/popular in the late 70s, early 80s, and I tried to capture that vibe as well. That's when hobo Bob was in his prime. Since then things have slowly begun to deteriorate That's why the instruments sound so trashy. Yet they are very powerful to express how determined hobo Bob is.

Good to hear you think it's catchy, and you like it overall. It's probably the effects on the bass drum you don't like. It's routed through a bass guitar amplifier to give it more power. I thought the jazz brass instruments made the song much more funky and interesting. I thought about puting brass on more sections on the song, but it may be a good thing I didn't. Anyway, the brass turned out the way I thought it up in my head, and it's quite memorable, so to me it's not indefinable. The game is also quite goofy, so I suppose it fits anyway.Thanks for sharing your opinion. I don't think I will do much with it, but perhaps later.

Glad you like it. Not everything I made for the game was put in no. Only 2 of the 4 loops I made were used, and the intro you can hear only very rarely (but I think that's some sort of glitch). That's why I wanted to post it as a full song. I did however change a lot about it, because the programmer (Wolve) asked me to make better versions of the songs for an upcoming improved release of the game... (spoiler!)

The voice at the beginning is an SP0256-AL2 soundchip emulator called "ST-1 Speak & Tweak". It's only available as a Reason plugin, but I'm sure there are other SP0256-AL2 emulators around, or maybe you can get your hands on an actual chip.
