Some boss music I created in my free time half a year ago for a nice game by a few talented students. It was removed from the game after one of the industry professionals and teachers evaluating the project referred to the piece as garbage.
Well, the game has a simplistic retro style and this is what I instantly came up with after playing the boss fight. I got caught up somewhere between the Tetris theme and Chris Huelsbeck's music. I felt that this silly mix of odd and fun music with rather dark and dramatic passages captured the situation in the game very well and that the piece is kinda nice to listen to. Oh well...
And sorry for the overly long intro and awful loop, the guys making the game needed a very specific format for a workaround in order to allow seamless looping. Also the lead synth misbehaves a few times but I never felt the urge to fix those issues after the piece was dumped.

Thanks for the kind words!
"Garbage?" Ouch.
It's definately not bad; I could see 3D Mario running around fighting a boss to this with a bit of polishing. I guess some people don't pull their punches when they critique.
It's really catchy and fun while also a bit menacing. The only thing I can think of to suggest is that it needs a little more complexity in its harmony.
Keep up the good work, and don't let criticism stop you from composing music.
Thanks. And naah, that guy won't stop me. And yeah, I agree, when judging the piece on its own merits it definitely might need some more diversity and complexity in its harmony, although I felt that with the bossfight being rather short and featuring some far more prominent sound effects a minimalistic and only slightly changing piece was the right thing to go with.
