Life is more like a sex toy... oh wait!
Hey guys, I had second thoughts about sharing this, as it didn't sound very clear when I heard it in iTunes, but I guess the player here has a different effect on it, and the crunchiness I heard in the beginning isn't there anymore.
If you do hear some sort of crunchiness (maybe it depends on a variety of other things?), please let me know.
Anyhoo, for awhile I've been wanting to make use of the Toy Piano from Boldt Instruments and I finally found time to do it. This song was initially only going to have the piano part at the end, but for some reason (I can't remember why), I decided to give it a semi-ambient cyberpunk intro; I guess to some effect it gives a story to the toy piano as being found through some junk in some sort of dystopian wasteland.
If there's one thing I wanted to add to this at all, it would be a toy crank sound effect, to give the sense of it playing the song itself, rather than someone hitting the keys themselves, but anyways, please enjoy!

P.S. another little fun note I'd like to add: believe it or not, the eerie lead synth in the beginning is *not* a theremin, but rather a celesta (also from Boldt), that I modified myself to give it such a sound. I know it sounds crazy, but I'll share a pic if you like to see.
P.S.S. I tried to get the high-end down, with the EQ but it seemed to conflict with the other frequencies (one of the rare complaints I have regarding Garageband's tools). Really wish it was more understandable and usable like other DAWs.

Very cool, I wish it were longer. I could see this in an RPG, in the right setting.
I'd love to see the picture of your theremin/celest.
haha, the instrument isn't real, it's a synth. It definitely would be cool to see a celesta in real life that could sound like that, but I wouldn't know where to find one if it exiss!

This was pretty cool, very different from what I usually listen to. The two parts are so very different though, it's a little strange. And the transition seems to be a little rough. Although, I almost feel that switching them would be better; starting with the piano and then transitioning to what you have as your current beginning. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, I really liked how this sounded and I definitely imagined a wasteland, but maybe that's because I read your comment first, haha.
Thanks, I really did only want to do the toy piano part, but decided to expand.
Thanks for reviewing!
