I'm exploring this space stuff, I'm getting the hang of this synth, I'm also liking the early 80's synths that you should be hearing from my earlier stuff. Anyway I got some of the melodic themes from "Daydream Anatomy - Snow Day" his portal is here.

I really slowed the themes down switch from a major to minor key and made it a rainy version. If you get bored from lack of development you can skip to 2:05.

Yer your right that background from his song really gives a thickness to it. Makes this song feel quite hollow
