I think,there's too much to say. In here, remember 3.5mm jack before other components at all times since others may not be so meaningful but the camera kit,when you own a iPhone or an iPad.

Please use these low-costed wires before the high-cost ones since there are only little differences. When you are not so sure, Use magnetic rings on wires you use.

Lastly,How to make out,I use Sony MZ-Rh1 in PCM recording mode to do it. Wire,a general one since I currently test something for the time being.

The setting may not be perfect. However there are no perfect ways, just make as close as possible.
