Just little fragments of thoughts in music form. The people have spoken, and this is obviously the perfect fit for a "Really goood," "Mildly chaotic," "SCIFI GAME!" Please rate/review if you download!

EDIT: 7/13/11 - Messed with the chime intro for the build-up.

SCIFI GAME!

lol this would go really well as an rpg game walking around song for like a scifi dungeon.! This is really well made, the synths sound amazing in this context as well. The stale crashes acually make the ambience of the song to me :p

Mildly chaotic...

...Yet this is intriguing nonetheless. I really love the way how each instrument is pronounced in a way that it will not conflict or overlap another sound/instrument/synth/whatever.

I admire the composition of the drums when given a closer look. The bongo drums are epic. Are those samples or do you make them yourself by sitting in front of a microphone? Are you a drummer by any chance?

I feel like this song could be in a sci-fi movie about something paranormal... like aliens or something. Imagine if X-files had been an 80's show :)

The only thing that really bothers me about this song is the staleness of the crashes. They seem oddly flat. But that's just my opinion?

DENT-de-lion responds:

Yeah... Well, the crashes are pretty flat and stale. It's the best free soundfont I could find. I kind of like it for this song, but for others it would be nice to have better sounding drums. The bongos are also a soundfont, but it took a lot of experimenting to write that part because the voice isn't GM and I write my songs in MIDI. I am a drummer at heart, but I like playing piano and just jamming with any instrument. I would love to learn how to play saxophone or violin. I think the mixing sounds pretty good except for when the volume gets quieter around 1:32 and stays there for a little while. You can't really tell all that much though! Thanks for the review!

This makes me think of metroid

I could really see this in the metroid prime series. I think this would go good as the background music in metroid prime 2 in the sky temple just before you fight the Emperor Ing (Final Boss... well... sort of).

Some bits of it remind me of bits of my own work, although that's not to say they are very similar - I think that most of my music is very different. By the way did you make this in FL Studio?

The sound makes me think of evil insect creatures, it sounds like a fusion of electronic and medieval music to me - that's probably just me.

I know how trying to use the notes to make it sound creepy but, they sound a tad off, although I could believe this is the closest you could get them to sounding right.
This deserves an 8

DENT-de-lion responds:

Evil insect creatures playing electronic medieval music - now that's a cool image! Thanks for the review! No, I don't use FL Studio (even though that seems to be what everyone uses). I use Jazz++ Midi Sequencer to write my songs, and then I add soundfonts and FX through Synthfont. About the notes being a tad off, at 2:29-2:30 and that whole build-up, it was pretty rushed. I just wrote that part yesterday and fine-tuned it a little today before deciding I had to upload this version to Newgrounds. Thanks for pointing that out, it needs to be fixed!
