Not one of my favorite battles. Neither Cynic nor Self came as hard as they could have, and it doesn't have anything to do with the beat. The name disses were rampant and lines such as "I'm immune to puny goons, I'll move the moon and prove to you" are examples of just how much filler there is in this battle. I do like that Cynic used the slow beat to sound condescending with "You should really practice rapping on beat". The personals I did hear were relevant but not biting. Steve came really hard with "You write articles about yourself on rap sites" - no punches in this battle even came close to that.

Overall I think Self won this one, but neither were at their best. I don't think the tempo has much to do with it; there's always a way to change up your style.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AGREED with PDub420... There was more to the beat than either rapper was rappin': neither of them were attackin' the beat, the beat was loopin' at 4/4 and Cynic (FOR SURE) coulda taken that to a 6/4 (or even an 8/4) and doubled his rhymes. It's almost like they were both playin' it safe(?) Plus I didn't like how R-Kelly got thrown into the mix and became a dog fight between theme the two. Solid 4, Cynic nailed it, and I would LOVED to have heard Cynic and MadFLeX go at it fo' sho' !!! That woulda been hella ill...!

Gotta give it to Cynic. Thought Self did okay but a couple of his rhymes were wishy washy and Cynic had better flow. Both had issues with the slow beat, but Cynic seemed to handle it better. I think he could have added some faster rapping, he's proven he's more than capable of busting out the gatling gun and bringing the rain. I'm pretty sure that's what the beat had been designed for but neither rapper took a bite.

Still, Cynic wins it. If he'd been in Gas's bracket, the finals would have been Cynic vs. MadFLeX.
