This was and shall remain my first composition inspired by the awesome beauty and power of Winter. Not to play favorites, but I honestly like it better than Winter Solstice, and I guess I always will. They're both great, but this one just seems to have something that the other one does not. Oddly enough, I don't think I could even pinpoint what that is. Perhaps it would be more interesting to hear what you think as you listen and compare the two. Such comments would be both welcome and encouraged.

I remember how - as I wrote this song - I could look out my window and view the vast expanse of whiteness that seemed to swallow everything beneath its glistening and swirling mass. I recalled a feeling of wandering cold and alone somewhere far from the warmth of my home, that same white brilliance fading into the horizon in every direction, and that is essentially where I drew my inspiration. Such things exist to create inspiration, I believe.

just... wow

To me it seemed slightly repetitive but you make up for that by perfectly envisioning snow with the choice of notes

ChronoNomad responds:

I'm glad you like it! It may be just a tad repetitive, but I've always been rather partial to this wintry composition. It has a very distinctive bassline and percussive section. Let it snow!

Love It

Just barely less than I love the feel of a white snow-covered plain itself.

ChronoNomad responds:

That pretty much sums it up. Thanks!

Excellent Work!

This makes me want to go play through Metroid Prime again; not because it sounds so similar, but because this has a sort of nostalgic video game music quality to it. The first thing that came to mind happened to be the Phendrana Drifts...

Shut up! I am completely logical!

ChronoNomad responds:

Thanks for the great review! Your final sentences are a little bizarre, but hey...I like bizarre. There seems to be a run on nostalgia lately, and I've been handing it out like candy if the latest reviews are true, and not just with this composition. I believe that's a good thing. :)

If I inspired you to go play a little Metroid Prime, I think that's a good thing, too. I dig the first two Metroid Prime games, but never got to play Corruption. Of course I love the original Metroid, and the best one of all (to me)...Super Metroid! I may be in the minority here, but I really like Other M, too. Gameplay aside, the music always has this cool, otherworldly sort of feel. What's not to like?

Snowdrops

This made me think of snow falling, which is what inspired you, right? Well done, a masterpiece.

ChronoNomad responds:

Oh my, the M word! I am truly flattered. Thank you very, very much for saying so! Your review is greatly appreciated.

a scattered beat

This song is beautiful and creative, but it is difficult to find the original beat. It seems as if in one time frame, there are bells, in the next there is the sound of a bass drum present. Even though finding the beat is confusing, the melody is mystic and amazing.

ChronoNomad responds:

Complexity is my middle name. Well, okay...so that's not really true. Anyway, I love making music like this that's hard to track all the individual parts. That makes it so much more difficult for anyone to reproduce my sound.

Thank you kindly for the review! Buy me a drink, sailor? (;
(Sorry, I've just always wanted to be able to say that)
