[THIS IS A WIP]

Hey again NG, haven't really been producing much lately, so I thought I'd come up with something, and here it is. The intro melody is from a loop, which I recreated by ear. Again, all non-percussion instruments are done using 3xOsc (wow). I feel like this is very different from my other pieces for some reason. I picked up a few tricks from professionals, such as appropiate usage of white noise and alternating claps with reverb/no reverb. There are still things to tweak though, at times it gets a bit repetitive, there could be something to spice the main parts up etc, so I'll probably work on looking at those aspects of the piece.

Sounds alright

The start knd of reminds me of the song "Not gonna get us" which is also a house song as well but for awhile I hear nothing bit a droplet and the synth and then a second synth begins to slowly come in along with the drums and give the beat a new life and meaning to it as well.

The claps make it sound a bit peaceful and for some reason I see a bunch of people just clapping to it and enjoying theirselves while a few others decide to breakdance and do the robot to this sick beat. The transition and everything is solid and the song is a great piece of head candy, great work on this piece.

Heh, never heard that song, but I know the style your talking about :P

To be honest, the silent claps (in the intro) seem to empty to me, like it's only a single person clapping, so I'll probably change that when I can.

Thanks for the review and the interesting things you can relate this to.

Synth poppy, transcendent, some change required

Hey DjAbbic,

--Production--
Better than average, but slightly empty. Might need a few more pads to fill things up. The production is very crisp and poppy, though, which is a bonus. The also strings have very low attack and release, which make them seem cheap. But overall, is good for a WIP.

--Experience--
This song has various stages of melody that we are taken through. I like the way you switch from fourths to thirds in an instant. It makes for great pops. The song is long, and might suffer from drooping because of the lack of changing elements. It's mostly the bass that starts off great but then gets repetitious quickly.

--Style--
Very epic and nice to listen to, but may suffer from lack of a recurring motif that one can remember the song by. The bassline would be the closest thing to it, but it's not that catchy as some other house songs have it. I would go for a sort of high-pitched simple synth melody a la "We No Speak Americano". Either that or some vocals to spice things up :)

--Wow Factor--
You can detect the thought that went into this song, but you can also tell that this is very much unfinished. I know that you say that this is a WIP, but it just detracts from the overall involvement in the song because of its lack of elements.

--Personal Tilt--
I see this song as having great potential that is yet to be unleashed. The first point I would make is that it needs more elements such as pads to fill things up. The other thing I would recommend would be revising adding things such as a main synth or even vocals. Overall it's a great song is to be improved. Thanks for letting me listen.

DjAbbic responds:

Very nice review you have given of this. I've read all your critiques and I'd say your very right, the strings are the default FL ones because I don't have any orchestral VSTs at the moment, and there isn't really anything to spice the bassline up, it'll be a bit hard to think of a good spice-up though I imagine :).

Thanks alot for a very detailed and accurate review, appreciate it :D

Nice!

Build up is really good, at first if I hadn't looked at the genre as House, I would have thought it to be a Classical submission just because of the intro.
The song get's into it real good after the intro, nice build up like I said.

The claps are really good, sound excellent.
A lot of problems I have with artists submissions as of late is the length of their submissions, too often I see ones that are around 1:30 - 2:00 minutes, songs like these of this genre and I just can't stand that. I think it is far too short for songs of this type, so you get some bonus points for making it a longer one.

Unfortunately, I can't really point out any problems I had with this one because it is not a genre I listen to often at all, only sometimes.
But the majority of it sounds really good to me, so just keep at it... Sounding professional and that's a really good thing.

4/5 - 8/10

DjAbbic responds:

Thanks alot for the review first of all :)

I really worked on the claps in this one because alot of professional artists' claps sound alot better than just a hit-snare.

I'm really glad you found this sounding professional, just what I want :D

There are, however, quite a bit of mastering issues, such as 5:25 and 5:27, where the kick goes flat. I'll try my best to fix some of these though :).

I also find that it's lacking in the low end, might do something there too, thanks alot for the review though :)
