I really threw this together on a whim. Sounds good to me though, I hope that the newgrounds community approves of it. I'd really like to hear this one put in a flash animation, but hey, I won't push too hard for it, as long as people listen and like it. Thanks newgrounds for allowing submissions.

Umm the beginning sounds exactly like http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/306928 :O not saying that one of you stole it from the other but I was just surprised :) Good song otherwise

SSJDre responds:

I think I know why they both sound so much alike at the beginning or the song, but I'm not truly at liberty to say why that is currently. Thanks for the positive review however.

Awesome.

I found myself inspired by this. Could have used louder dynamics near the climax, but otherwise I enjoyed it all the way through.

SSJDre responds:

With the program I used to make it, I couldn't really find anything higher than what I used at the time. I've been thinking of redoing the track lately, but I still laze away from it because I'd have to rebuild the whole thing. I think though that I'll eventually get to it. Thanks for responding and for your vote.

Whims are what make awesome stuff

Adaemonium and blackdtown gave some great advice and there's not too much I can add to that. This song has a lot of potential but it needs that little bit of extra oomph to it, you know? I personally vote for a stronger bass drum to help a little bit, and a little more variation in tempo, something to build up anticipation to the big battle ahead.

Can't wait to see more from you, here's hoping to see this song redone eventually in the future. :D

SSJDre responds:

Thanks for that, I'll have to redo the whole arrangement because I accidentally deleted it from my computer, but eventually, yeah, I will redo it, but I think I'll name it differently and keep this version up, so people can compare. Thanks though, and hey, give some of my other stuff a listen too if you have the chance, it's always great to get feedback.

Preparation of ritual warfare

The battle appears to start or increase from 1:30, I can see how you are plotting a battle from there. And it is a good pace for a battle. However after half a minute it sounds once again like a preparation for battle but at greater speed, and the reason why I see this is due to the continuation of the same theme over and over. Like the ritual beginning to a battle. For a battle we need to hear dramatic bursts of ferocity, a sudden new pacing as new battle fronts develop. The main theme doesn't have to change, we just need to see sections of different tempos, different instruments and perhaps more experimentation with percussion and drums. I only say this not as an artist, but from general experience.

SSJDre responds:

Thank you, that really is a big help, I've recently started seeing how I can amend that problem, but it's good to hear it also. I'm hoping that with anything that I submit now, you can actually tell the difference and feel it.

Edit: (10/18/10) You know though, I was thinking about this song, and it kind of reminds me of Metal Gear Solid. Just think of when Snake gets caught as being the point when the music gets intense.

Sounds more like a "Preparation for Battle" to me

It's still a great song nonetheless. I do wish that the song was a bit more fleshed out, though. Personally, I felt that the part starting from 1:25 should have had an extra part added in at 1:54 or so; maybe another piano section or something. Also, I didn't really like how abruptly the strings at 2:42 ended; and echo would have made it sound much nicer, in my opinion.

SSJDre responds:

I really wasn't trying to make it stop so abruptly like that, but with the program that I'm using, I couldn't find anything that sounded right to fit right between, so there is that pause. I still have yet to learn how to make parts echo that don't already have them. I will be making more songs though, so just check in when you can, and keep telling me what you think, thanks again.
