It's not bad... though I'll be honest, to me it sounds a bit empty. It really does sound a lot like the song, and total kudos for that, but perhaps fill it in a bit with more (or any) full chords if possible, see how it sounds. Don't forget, when this song was created, it was in cheap-sounding 8-bit (or was it 16 or 32 bit? I can never remember). You as an artist are not limited to that :)

Worthy Effort, Fail PItch

I like your effort here--it's clear you put a lot of work into this, and your melodic faithfulness is nice. However... the distortion you use creates some absolutely horrible dissonance that snaps me right out of liking it. I do believe your flute-y thing is flat a few times, and there's one part in the melody where the guitar seems flat too. Also, check your levels. The melody should be a bit louder in comparison to the backing.

...lead hit a few off notes....nothing a re-record wouldnt fix...otherwise amazing job
