So this is my first submission to the NG world, I hope to be recording some more and I'll probably submit it here as well (assuming this song goes down well). The mixing/mastering on this track is fairly bad because I'm new to recording. Also the "new to recording" problem is why I chose a song with a simple structure, so forgive me if the song seems to be a bit repetitive. I'll probably end up re-recording the whole thing when I have more experience.

The guitar tracks I played myself, the drum tracks were composed in FL9 and it was mixed in Audacity. This is all my own work.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it. Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Really nice

So this one here was pretty good that guitar in there was pretty sick and some nice vibe sounds on it with some really good mixture all around this one adding in some juice flavor so keep making great stuff such as this one and I really like the vibe you have braught to the table here

~X~

Sounds awesome

This is a pretty nice beat you got here however at the start I would have changed from simply drum kicks to hitting the tom on every second bass kick. This is quite wonderful if it were to be used in a fighting scene for a movie.

Guitar: One righteous riff.

Drums: Pretty kicking beat here.

Bass: Not extremely loud but it does the job of being awesome.

Breakdown: Like how it sounds acoustic.

Overall: Wonderful job on this here, nice going.

Good Metal!

I like this tune, but I'm not sure about the transition from the thrash metal to the very mellow by contrast part at around 2 minutes. Perhaps this would be lessened by the application of lyrics, but I'm sure you already knew that.

The way that it picks back up again is good, but I just think that the change there is too great and it needs to be lessened. The way that the rest of the tune sounds is pretty damned good, with the fast drums, well devised guitar and a nice sounding melody. With how fast the drums go, you could ahve stood to go faster. Not that we're talking Malmsteen style speed there, just something that reflected the thrash nature of the drums that you've given us.

Good song

Simple structure, yes. But most of the time the simple structure works a lot better than overly complex songs.

The guitars could use some more work, they sound a bit thin, especially compared to the very bassy drums.
Speaking of the drums, I like the drum track. It may be a bit repetitive, but it sounds awesome anyway. ^^

The quieter part during the middle of the song may be a tad bit too quiet and the transition to this part could use some more work as well. Seems a bit too abrupt to me right now.

Overall, this is a very good song.

Thanks for the review, Haggard!
You seem to have noticed all the problems I was having with the song. I hadn't thought much about the quiet interlude but I think you're right, I'll have to rework that. Glad you liked it!

Good work man, it's got a lot of energy to it.

Try and work on your eq for the drums, get them sounding more defined. Also the guitar sounds nice at the moment, could use a bit more tweaking i guess!

The opening riff is sinful by the way... and I like it >=)

Keep it up!

of-wolf responds:

Thanks!
I've been working on building a guitar tone, messing around with mics, amps and straight recording. The drums need a lot of work, Fruity Loops is new to me. I'll probably redo the whole thing when I have more songs under my belt.
