I wrote the beginning of this song a long time ago, and I picked it up and finished it today!

The song is meant to be a sort of tutorial song. Teaching you the basics of the game through some sort of cheesy 8-bit interactive game. But who knows, it could have other uses as well. :)

Well I guess I have the same complaints as the other people had. The transitions were a bit rough and that's coming from someone that really doesn't know much about music, which means they were a bit obvious in this submission. :P

The song itself is pretty good though. It really reminds me of something where you would see a character discovering a wonderful world that he has never seen before and there isn't any limits on what he can do. It kind of goes with the title of the song as well.

Yep, most people have been giving me the same advice, so I know which parts aren't working.

"brilliant work.."

Intro was a bit too drawn out but when the new isntruments set in, it instantly got better, and when the melody came in it got way better. I liked the 8-bit instruments you used as they really set off the video gameish style in it.

Transition somewher round 1:30 wasn't good though adn it really needs improvement in only that part.

I'd really imagine this in a flash platform game which is set in an 8-bit fantasy world.

Good job throughout, keep it up!

"Pretty good."

I like the 8-bit sound to this piece. I especially like at about twenty seconds when you have the notes go up and down the scales, it sounds awesome. Plus the recurring tune will be stuck in my head all day. I didn't really like how much the beginning sounded like the end, but I did enjoy how catchy the beat was. Keep up the great work!

Author's Response:

Yeah, this song gets stuck in my head every time I listen to it. The reason I had the beginning and the end sound the same was to get the loop to fit together better, but I prolly could have done that without it sounding the same as well.

"Nice!"

Wow, this is so fun to listen to. Keep up the great work, it's really well done!

The melodies sound familiar, but that doesn't matter, because they sound so great. They're very catchy and happy, plus they fit with the song in general very well. This needs more alternate melodies though. Instruments were an 8-bit wonder, never had 8-bit instruments sounded so awesome.

Transitions were fine, and there were some good buildups in the song. One problem though: the rythm change at 1:25 was a good idea, but came in too suddenly with a rough transition, so you should follow Haggard's idea of the fading beats. Good song structure, but the first buildup kept going on a bit too long IMO. Variety needs working on a little here too, since this does get quite repetitive, with only one melody. As for the intro and outro, they both were fine, and this looped really well too.

The drums were perfect for 8-bit with really nice beats, and were just the right loudness. May I ask which VST/Drum Kit you used for those 8-bit drums? They sound amazing.

Overall, I really enjoyed this song. Keep up the amazing work, looks like you're good at Industrial AND 8-bit too! Good job!

There's a comment about that transition again. I guess it really was too fast. I used 3xOsc for the instruments annnnd.... Chaos Stomper for the beats. I think that's what they'd be called anyway.

"Not bad"

If you hadn't made the intro so long, relative to the length of the rest of the tune, this would be a stellar piece. Sometimes, too much buildup can prove to be a track's undoing, as it has here. Try throwing 2 or 3 elements into the tune together, or go through less runs of the basic component loop before you get to adding a new piece.

I can certainly say that the latter part of the track sounds great - there is a wealth of great sounds that would certainly make this feel at home in a Kirby or even perhaps a LoZ setting. Keep working at it and you'll have something that artists want to use :)

Yeah, I never noticed how long the intro really was. Thanks for the feedback!
