"Memories of Yesterday," written and recorded between May and August 2009.

The lyrics deal with deal in general, partially inspired by the passing of a good friend (RIP, David). I started writing the first part of the main song (after the intro cuts out) the day he died, but a few hours before I found out. I continued writing the rest of it, obviously in the time surrounding his passing also. The song was kind of becoming a progressive epic of sorts that called for serious lyrics, and so something about death seemed to fit.

Production information (if you care):

The intro was the last part to be written. I had the idea to make a kind of ambient intro for the song and came up with some fingerpicking sort of things and strung them together. I recorded that, and added on delay, reverb and phaser. Then I improvized the lead part using a guitar with a volume swelling pedal, and to that I added delay and reverb but then compression after that to make the echoes blend with the original signal. The final product was then put through a "radio" filter (I want to say it's band-pass, but I'm not sure) and the last few seconds were reversed and phased, leading directly into the main song.

Hope you enjoy!
