{Heim} Temple of the Rising Sun: Part 1

"Temple of the Rising Sun" is the 3rd and final movement to my 3-movement Suite for Orchestra (the first two movements being "Nightfall" and "A Storm in the Night"). Unfortunately, the file size of this last movement is too large to be fit on NG, so I split it up into 2 parts.

www.jeffheim.net

This 3rd movement "Temple of the Rising Sun" has 4 smaller sections to it, and the first two are presented in Part 1.

I. Journey Through the Night (0:00 - 2:30)
II. Temple of the Rising Sun (2:30 - 5:00)

Since this suite is about the course of the night, the 3rd movement begins in the shadows of the night, moving along slowly at first. Think of yourself as a traveler on a journey through this movement, gaining momentum and direction as the piece brings us towards the prospect of a new day along the horizon. During the second section, the traveler discovers an old temple and rests there waiting for the Sun to rise. This section has a very fluid African feel to it. The third section, Desert Dance is a transitional idea which distracts us from the beauty of the moment, and is supposed to represent a dance calling for the Sun's reappearance. The traveler witnesses a local tribe dancing around the temple moments before dawn, which takes us to the final section of this movement, called "Sunrise". You'll notice a familiar theme at the beginning of this section, and this last gesture is truly the epitome of the movement. It marks the Sun's anticipated appearance along the horizon, and the fulfillment of a lone traveler on a journey through the night, finished at last.

Love it!

This is one of my new favorite pieces on NG. I especially am impressed by the quality of the music, the brass is amazing!! Usually synth brass is painful, especially since I am a real brass player, but your stuff is incredibly real sounding! The solo trumpet is beautiful!

JeffHeim responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Which brass instrument do you play?

Mmm, film-worthy

Very well doen to you, I wish I could get a track as good as this

NICE ONE

JeffHeim responds:

Thank you for the kind review!

Epic!

is this a game OST or sort of ? cause it's really well made!!! "Chapeau!"

JeffHeim responds:

No, just did it for fun :)

really well done

great sounds, everything fits together, very musical-ish
very clear on melody+backgrounds, i personally found it not quite enjoyable

JeffHeim responds:

okay, I respect that you didn't let the fact that you didn't find it enjoyable get in the way of your review. A non-biased honest review is better than anything. Thank you for listening through the whole thing, too!

Great sounds...

This truly is a masterpiece. Very fascinating.

JeffHeim responds:

Thank you! I use EWQLSO and they have changed the way I write, and possibly my career.

I love how the reviews are getting better!
