Babble of the day...

When I listen to this track I picture myself in a room that is empty and there's a window showing the outside world. I love this track I had it downloaded. The ending is a bit irritating but everything was fine.

Pandora-Tranquil responds:

this is a VERY old one of mine :-P yes I see what you mean about the ending, I was still new to producing. Thanks man!

not bad

i really like ur music but this one got a 9 hrmmm good song gj on that but its to slow i think just personal taste dont take it personaly
i like faster stuff

Pandora-Tranquil responds:

thats cool, thanks for taking the time to review!!!

Hrmmm...

Well first thing I have to say is that the mix ain't great. The levels weren't paid any attention, it seems to me. Everything is just as loud as the other synths, and it hurt me a wee bit until I turned it down. Some equalizations are in order :) Otherwise, everything else about this song is great, and very original! I love that melody, it's really cool! I can tell that you used JasonC's songs as a template, and I totally understand that. However, if it can remind a person of it that much, perhaps you should think about tweaking the instruments some more before you publish the song on Newgrounds. Remember, you are submitting songs to be listened to by a whole shitload of people, you wanna put something out there that is totally your own, and sounds great, at least on a technical level. Equalize the shit out of your drums, make sure the snares and hats are sharp and clear, the bass is punchy and bassy enough to be heard. Basslines should'nt really dominate over melodies, and so on and so on. I hope I don't sound like an old person condescending a youngster, because that's not what I'm trying to do. I really do like your song, I'm just pointing out what I find to be flaws in the song. Also, I agree with Third_Nut about the melody thing. A song over 3 minutes should, and I stress the should, have at least 2 melodies, but it's not always required. If you automate it enough so that it sounds new and refreshing each time you hear it, that's cool too. Anyway, I hope that I helped people that read this in some way, and I hope you keep making tunes bud, perhaps in the not to distant future you wouldn't mind collabing on a song with me :-)

P.S. check out my songs and see what you think

Pandora-Tranquil responds:

Thanks for actually making a review longer than third nuts!!!
lol

glad u liked, i made a slight remix of it so it would "totally be mine" ill submit it eventually.

Intro was sweet...

Slowly introducing the sounds peice by peice. Has a really nice flow to it. At first I just tilted my head back, relaxed in my chair and closed my eyes and got lost in the flow. It's just so soothing and relaxing to me. The kinda song I can get lost in. In all honesty this is a massive chillout hit. I'm very enveous of this one. I make a lot of chillout beats that I don't submit but this is just so well put together.

The order of intro's and choice of mixing the diff melody's/synths were just perfectly picked. Gets kinda repetitive but you get so into it, and chilled out you don't really care.

The outro is really well done. I love doing stuff like that myself, a really simple outro where all the sounds slowly leave and one synth stays in the end the song slowly. You know its about to end and yet you want it to keep going. A great feeling to portray because it then causes the listener to listen again and again.

One of the best chillout mixes I've seen on NG.

I really hope u decide to do another chillout sometime. It really flowed well. So different from your regular style to me, but works so greatly.

Keep em coming. I'm highly anticipating your next release.

Pandora-Tranquil responds:

lol thanks, IT MADE THE WEEKLY FAV!!! i cant believe that!

hope i get more reviews.

thanks dude for ur comments, i really like to make songs that u can get lost in (or at least try lol)

thanks again

5, but should be 4

The echoed pads work well when they are brought up to a level to hear more clearly and brought down to sooth the mood. The snare beats that come in a lil later work well. The high pitched synths were quite strange, didn't expect it. The bass line is good, not quite standing out, but it doesn't need to. The bass line is also quite awkward, it had some pitch problems, but I am sure it was meant to sound like that.

It's a little too long. I thought it coulda at least been shortend at least 20 to 30 seconds, because there were some parts in there that coulda not happened, it took interest out of me when it gott about a minute into it, because I was hearing the same meldoy. You shoulda tried a new melody about 2 min and 30 into it, then it coulda got more attention.

Nice work, I don't really care if you tweaked up a song off of FL.... it still doesn't mean you copied it. You made it your own, so I would just call it a remix in my eyes. This next song you are making from 100% scratch... I can't wait to hear it, cuz if you did a good job on this remix, then I am sure you can fly in making your own music. Just remember, always put at least two melodies in a song that is over 3 minutes... it doesn't work for me with just 1 same old melody going on and on. 7 on effort, cuz you just didn't bother to try and make your own from scratch. But you still got a 5 out of me.

0 Third 0 Nut 0

Pandora-Tranquil responds:

Thanks for the awesome review, i am glad to get reviews like this.

Thank you very much for being cool about it lol.

and dude, i didnt just "remix" a song.
its not a remix, or it would have the same beat, when i said i used the sounds, i mean i took away everything out of the piano roll and the step sequencer, then i made everything from scratch, and i added a organ sound, a pad, some new drum effects, and i changed the main synth.

it jus helps me get going when i have good sounds to start with, however armageddeon (which was made before this one) is made 100% from scratch.

thanks again for the review
