Was digging through some old files this morning and stumbled across this old track. When I say old I mean *old* - I'm not sure exactly when this midi came together, but I think it was back in 2001?

Eh.

Anyway, I thought it'd be interesting to do a quick render and upload. It's really bizarre how much more mellow my stuff back then was - guess that was before the metal influences started shuffling in. It's also kind of disappointing to realise how much more creative I was back then... I guess the more you know the more you fall into the same old traps.

If this is in the wrong genre, give us a shout.

"Pretty good"

date: October 13, 2008

It's really good for an old song, and it's nice to hear an old song that was in the works or never got around to submitting.

I truly like this. There is just nothing like a good song with a cool bass line with drums to match.

Thanks for commenting. The bass is actually the part I dislike most... it shows up how much I tend to cut+paste parts throughout a track. True even then. :]

"Cool"

date: October 13, 2008

Nicely mellow. Would work great as a "prelude" song in a flash series. The static sounds every once in a while make it sound more "cinema"ish.
Takes just a tad too long to build up, though, and can get a little repetitive on its own (As in, feels like it's designed to go with a movie/some text, and something's a bit missing when it's not).

Also, I think the genre should be Trance, but that's just me.

Great work.

I guess it's nice to have the choice - if someone ever did use it, they'd probably chop any dead space off the start. :)

Back then I had a thing for really long intros. I remember one that ran to 12 minutes with a four minute intro, although I seem to have lost that file at some point. Probably for the best. :p

I love it!

The synth's in this are awesome! Good job!
That snare gets just a little annoying though...

Author's Response:

I can't take credit for the synths.

The file itself was a midi rendered through a program called 'Virtual Sound Canvas'. The synths are all built into the renderer.

The rest is just chorus and reverb effects. Pretty basic stuff.
