I originally mixed this for the Squaresound remix contest in early 2008, which essentially had people remixing any Uematsu tune for the shot at VIP tickets to a Distant Worlds concert in Chicago. I was honored to have actually won the contest! The show was great :)
Anyway, about the mix - I really used everything but the kitchen sink here. Guitars, hip hop drums, lots of synths, anvils, orchestral instruments, and everything in between. Besides the Devil's Lab theme, there's some Kefka and Umaro thrown in there too for good measure. I had an absolute blast making this, particularly the last 1/3 or so (almost all of which was done a few hours before the contest deadline.)

Bison yes! This is glorious. Such a great remake from the best FF game ever. Lots of variety and different sounds mix up very well for an excellent ensemble, while never getting overwhelming for the ears.
Here, take the 5 well deserved stars. This is going straight on my playlist!

Your a genious simply, its always hard to remix classic old soundtracks and make them feel new but this was a complete fresh air. Thank you very much for remixing these incredible songs. Im really glad that u have been honoured by square to go see Distanworld which I will be seeing in Boston in a week!!! Good job again!

I can see why you won. Combining two songs like that, using both glorious samples and nostalgic 8 bit samples, and a fantastic melody alltogether. Keep up the fantastic work! Can't wait to hear more!
