This is my first try at anything even approaching music. I know it probably is absolutely horrible but please be kind. I would love ideas and advice on how to make this better. A friend helped me with it so its not totally mine.

Not bad for your first try...
It's not horrible, at least you have a decent beat and little tiny melody thing going. The next time you put anything on here though I would make it more that 5 seconds...at least 15, otherwise it's hardly worth listening to.
