In order to simplify something down to an inferior state (not the quality of your work, mind you, but the style itself), a person must have such a deep hold on the orginal composition as a whole, including the tone, mood, and general feel that the song creates.
I believe this version succeeds in taking what was, originally, a very complex song, and reducing it down to a state that rings both unfamiliar, yet oddly right, in our ears. No feeling was lost in its translation, and the listener can happily imagine Ricco Harbor converted into pixels without too much strain.
