Detailed

The skull is a bit rough around the edges, but it's a skull, it's not supposed to look fine and polished. Personally, I think it gives the skull a kind of aged and worn out appeal, hence the web in the eye socket.

If anything needs improvement it's the background, though the contrast isn't that drastic when you take into account the main focus of the art piece, which is the skull. Sharpen it a little, but not too much.

A little rushed

I think that you could have spent some time looking over this piece and smoothing out bits and pieces, just to make it look slightly moire human. The skull could be smoothed over, as that's how they tend to come out of the human head. I appreciate the colours would be like that if it had been left outside with no sunlight to bleach it, but the texture would be quite smooth, nonetheless.

Try looking at other skulls - one big piece of detail that you missed is the temple - just behind and above the eye socket on the side of the head, there is what can only be described as a dent. Try looking for some research material and you'll see what I mean. Adding this to the piece would certainly add to the detail and realism for me at least.

How big is this skull? That spider web looks incredibly detailed, to be used on a human sized eye socket. Perhaps you can reduce the amount of detail there, perhaps even adding the spider lazily stalking prey in one corner of the web?

I'm not sure what you're trying to convey in the background, but it's certainly different. An interesting colour scheme and something ominous looming from behind the skull...

Background needs some work

I like the colours in this picture, they go along pretty well with their mostly brownish tone.

The skull face is very detailed, especially the spider web. Maybe it would look even better if there was an actual spider in it.

I think the background nees some more work. It's too blurry right now and it kind of lets the picture down. The contrast between the detailed skull and the blurry background is just too much.

Good attention to detail

I love the attention to detail on the face, it really brings it up a notch. The best example of this is the web in the eye, it's great. However, with this much attention to detail on the face, couldn't you carry it over to the background. It seemed a bit lazy and too filtered. It still created a nice effect, but it didn't really work with the image.

Some of the scars seem a bit too parallel, which doesn't really work. Also, he hasn't got any eyebrows. I understand that he has kinda decomposed, but there would probably have been some remnant of an eyebrow..

Lol Evil Like Sex!

XD

So I'm looking at the upper right half of a skull if I'm not mistaken. Or at least that's what I put together when I see that the title and the picture together. The spider web in the eye was really a nice touch. The hair on the lower part of the skull was also a very nice touch indeed.

The background was very interesting and the colors used matched the piece of art in it's entirety very well. When I first looked at the picture I honestly had no clue what it was, but now I see it for sure. To the right of the eye looks like some scratches which makes me think that there wasn't anything lovely about this death. :P

An overall good piece. Maybe next time try something with a bit more of a detailed background?
