ABOUT THE MAYAN DEITY KUKULKAN:

Kukulkan (The Quetzal Serpent) is the Mayan deity of creation, symbol of perspective and vision, messenger of knowledge, and bringer of culture and change.

Kukulkan is a worldly deity known to various Maya people as Waxaklajun Ubah Kan, Kukulkan and Q’uq’umatz. This deity is known as ”Quetzalcoatl” to the Aztec; “Long” to many Chinese cultures,The “Naga” to various Indian peoples; and “Tatsu” to the Japanese. Kukulkan will be a major force behind the change to come upon the turn of the Great Cycle.

The “Classic” Maya of ancient times knew Kukulkan as Waxaklajun Ubah Kan – The War Serpent; a being capable of aiding nations in the many ways of war, and providing guidance towards victory. Those of the “Post-Classic” era knew Kukulkan as the Vision Serpent; a being capable of providing profound insight about issues of past, present and future importance, and a general guide to successful decision making and will manifestation.

Throughout the existence of the Mayan culture and way, there have been numerous individuals of guidance and rule that have taken on the exact name or names similar to those possessed by Kukulkan in that day and age.

Kukulkan was and currently is an extremely influential deity to the Maya; so influential in fact, that numerous sites, temples and pyramids have been built to channel his properties, pay homage and respect to him, and provide destinations to learn from and understand his teachings and ways. Ruins all throughout the northern Yucatán Penninsula such as Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and Mayapan provide examples of this.

The K’iche’ Maya know certain aspects of Kukulkan as Q’uq’umatz, and in the Popol Vuh (The Book of the People) tell of his collaborative creation of the Earth and Man, alongside the deity of the sky’s power, Tepeu.

Kukulkan is a true sign of mediation, communication, and balance; as the elements forming his whole depict neutrality, and the ability to roam between realms of dualism. The serpent element of Kukulkan defines his ability to navigate and explore the Earth with great proficiency and ease; to dwell within and beyond the lands of earthlings. The quetzal aspect of his being reveals his power to ascend into the realm of the sky and beyond; an attribute that shows his ability to navigate and understand the galactic and cosmic realms of existence.

Kukulkan is truly a deity capable of bringing forces of inward and outward depths together to spark creation and change.

Thanks RexSL! I appreciate the good words and the 5 stars!

This is really good and detailed and pretty much perfect. You're thinking, "WHY DIDN'T YOU GIVE ME 5 STARS?" That's cause it's a bit creepy. Good job though.

UnknownDepths responds:

Thanks Twigo! Any star rating is appreciated. I guess to people seeing things from different cultural perspectives, Kukulkan can be a bit "creepy." :) But, trust me there's nothing to fear!
