The Grimataur feeds on the souls of infants, making hospitals her favorite hunting ground. She will occasionally follow the infant's family home, with the intention of letting the child's soul evolve, making the act of feasting on the soul more delicious and the fulfillment longer lasting.
She stays invisible most of the time, but you can catch a glimpse of her if you are unlucky. Mothers who sees her will most likely develop postnatal depression.

The aftermath of the Grimataur's feasting will be one of the following three:

1. Soulless (psychopath)- the Grimataur has succeeded with taking all of the child's soul (the soul must be removed slowly in one piece to let the child's body have time to adapt), leaving the child growing up a psychopath. If the child is of the male sex the Grimataur has a greater chance of obtaining their entire soul.

2. Corrupted Soul- the Grimataur fails to distract the entire soul (if the soul "breaks", the Grimataur won't be able to get the remaining part). A child with a corrupted soul will not die but can instead develop anxiety, depression, dissociative identity disorder, bipolarity etc. when it gets older.

3. Death (sudden infant death syndrome, also known as SIDS)- if the child's soul is strong, and aware that the Grimataur is near, the soul can leave the child before the Grimataur has a chance to remove it. The child will then die, because the body hasn´t had a chance to adapt to a soulless state.

Gaaah! Painting all those scales made me lose my mind! I blame them for the lack of background(and weird title) :P
Looked at a lot of references (mostly of crocodiles, and bush vipers) for the scales.
