This is my second time entering Jazza's COTM, to make this an untraditional piece I went all out. My canvas is wood painted with black spray paint and is 191cm at the longest point. This is significant as it is my actual height. It has been cut using a jigsaw, during this step I did have adult supervision. To create these intricate shapes with the twine a total of around 3,400 nails were used in making this piece. Around 350m of twine has been used in making this lion.
I took inspiration from the traditional artist Hans Holbein who created the painting Skull Ambassadors. He created a painting with a stretched skull which can only be noticed in a certain angle. However, my piece is not as stretch so can be recognised easier face on. (Face on image found with wip images.)
I am very happy with this piece and it now has a proud place on the wall.
Overall I love this piece and even if my piece does not win anything the hours of work payed of in creating a brilliant piece. (As you can see I am very biased, but, I hope it grabs the attention of others too.)
