Cosmo

Inspired by a game called Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, a scifi platformer by Apogee (3drealms) in 1992. I grew up with this game, it's one of my favorites from the Dos era.

cosmo's cosmic adventure . i loved that platformer and all the ones coming out around this time. Remembering bio menace, monster bash, the commander keen series. Awesome piece too. It feels you captured the games main character really well ( nothing seems out of place). by just the look i can tell what i was looking at and it made me smile :)

Thank you! Glad you like it. Your comment made me smile. It's great to know there are people who still remember these games.

Idk I just freakin love that crocodile plant thing in the bottom left (T-T)b

Scottr5680 responds:

Thanks. Yeah, in the game you actually exit some levels by jumping in it's mouth. There's even a level inside of it.

I grew up with gaming from the late 80's into the 90's era too awesome. u know the 80's and 90's decades were the best decades for gaming and cartoons tv shows even tv commericals as well lol. anyhow i never heard of this game, however u must have heard or even played dos games like the roger wilco games from the late 80's and also by 3d realms that brought us duke nukem 3d i love the duke nukem and roger wilco games. also ever heard of dos games which you prob did such as leisure suit larry and prince of persia that came out for dos in 1990. also this is off topic now obliviously you heard of cartoons from back in the day that we grew up with such as He-man and the masters of the universe,Thundercats, G.I. Joe The Transformers Bravestarr, Silverhawks, Dinosaucers, & Inhumanoids. If you remember any of these which i'm sure you do, i was wondering can you draw if you have time any of these cartoon or old video game chracters. that would be really cool like duke nukem, roger wilco etc... that would be awesome! its pretty coo to talk to someone that remembers the days of good gaming, not todays gaming where the only main focus is just graphics and looks for games, which is still cool and all don't get me wrong, but also along with gaming back then some of the games had really cool story lines as well, as well as some games do today, just not as much though in my opinion. overall good job man!!!!! keep up the good work!!!!!. also just 1 more thing did you ever back in the day have a comodore 64! the best scariest game or best game in my opinion for C64 is Project Firestart!!!! if u never heard of this gaming title for the C64you should check it out! its 1 of the best games ever made its was way ahead of its time the actual 1st survial horror game ever. it came out in 1988 by dynamix. this game was actually inspired after the movie alien that came out in late 70's. if you know the inhumanoids cartoon from 86 the green aliens in project firestart look like the inhumanoid tendril from the inhumanoids cartoon in 1 of the cutscenes in the game. the music of this game the cinematic cutscenes etc... awesome game. also games like out of this world for dos the amiga tandy etc... another awesome game ahead of its time, flashback the quest for idenity, heart of the alien the sequel to out of this world only on sega cd. even decade b4 world of warcraft came out which was in 2004 in 1994 blizzard entertainment made blackthorne for super nintendo as well as dos, etc... the snes version was the best obviously but also blackthorne came out also for the sega 32x, the graphics were slightly a little crispier for the 32x but the music was better for the snes version. the 32x had 1 more board called the snowy mountains for a total of 5 areas the snes version and the dos version only had 4 areas same amont of levels but 1 less area for snes and dos versions of the blackthorne game! anyhow i rambled on long enough and got well of topic here, but in other words overall keep up the good work man!

Scottr5680 responds:

Yeah there were a lot of great games back then. I have certainly played those games. As for doing artwork based on some of them, it is definitely a possibility. But it depends on a number of factors. I chose Cosmo because it was a game I really liked, hardly anyone knows it exists anymore so it gets very little if any recognition, and I wanted to re-envision it/imagine what it would look like updated. I did plan for this to be part of a series of drawings though, there are at least 2 more in the works (both also based on dos games). I may very well do more over time, but I try to focus on my own original ideas and not do much fan art.

I was born in 1988, so I'm more familiar with 90s shows, but I have seen some of those or know of them. And I definitely prefer shows from the 80s and 90s over shows today.

Anyway, thank you so much for the comments. I'm glad you liked it. :)

in my dreams i am free...in my dreams i walk in the stars and gaze upon the endless universe just to realize how small i really am.........in my dreams i am Cosmo and i travel around the Universe saving world after world so that everywhere i go people are free and heppy ;)

Great job ;) carry on with more fantastic art!

Scottr5680 responds:

Thank you! ^_^
