Yet another old one (I'll upload something new soon, I promise!), mostly to prove that my paintings aren't limited to lame imitations of Chinese/Japanese castles.
I got the idea for this one at my grandfather's house on a stormy night by his piano. I got the idea for a room far more dramatically lit, with a studious person examining what I had contemplated making mysterious runes but ended up with just being a piece of sheet music or the like. His desk is scattered with papers and notes, to convey a scholarly mood, the scale and the jewel were to make a sense of mystery (there was also a similar scale at my grandfather's house).
Overall, you can see that my color work was, in my humble opinion, not that bad, though the person is nothing to write home about, especially with regard to the hands. Nonetheless, I hope you guys like it. The next painting will be a more recent one, feel free to comment on this though if you want. Until then!
