Terragen for the base render. Apophysis for the sun flares. Photoshop and Sai for the painted effect.

This is a collaboration I did with my good friend Keagan. He did this awesome render with Terragen about a year ago, and asked me if I could put an astronaut reaching up to the sun. I thought, I could just paint one in there real quick, no problem. Boy was I wrong!

Initially I wanted to make the astronaut look super realistic so that he would fit in with the awesome render that Keagan did. I got really frustrated with this, as there was really no way for me to paint a figure quickly, and have it fit in whatsoever. After thinking about it for a couple months, I was talking with Keagan about just "painting over the whole thing." and he said "do whatever you got to do." where this piece finally started to move forward.

Then add on top of that, being super, super busy with work, having a couple of family crisis, and REALLY wanting to get a different piece that I've been working on for the last year and a half finished, and yeah. . . A HUGE thanks for Keagan for being so patient and cool about the whole thing taking about a year!

In the end, I wish it would have turned out a little, better. I think Keagan is a little disappointed (even if he won't say so.) But it was an experiment. And that being said, I'm pretty happy with it.

amazing

is that ..a kill ball? RUUN

Nice

I like how that sun looks awsome

This is true art.

This is just utterly amazing.
Words just cannot describe the subtle beauty of this work of art.

I get such and amazing sense of depth and loneliness when I look at this..

I understand that Keagan did the background, and he did an AMAZING job, but the lone astronaut makes this picture for me.

The astronaut looks as if he wants to accomplish so much more than what his admittingly short life will let him accomplish.

In short,
Bravo.

Thanks for the deep review moss.

My God

Well whether or not your friend Keagan liked it, I found it to be breathtaking. It is one of those pieces where I immanently set it as my family computers desktop image so they'd all see it as soon as they got on. Its good. Its really good.\

Nondual responds:

Lol, very cool. Thanks.
