Tisane

Version with pencil lines: http://krichotomy.deviantart.com/art/Tisane-Touhou-OC-Concept-Art-471481852

Concept draft for a Touhou original character idea I had. This character is meant to be somewhat of a projection of myself into the Touhou world as a Touhou character.

----------------------------------------------------
NAME: This is undecided, but I am temporarily calling her "Tisane" (An English word for herbal tea, pronounced Ti-zahn).
----------------------------------------------------
SPECIES: Magician.
----------------------------------------------------
SIGIL: Possibly a mint plant.
----------------------------------------------------
WEAPON: A black wand that, among other things, has the ability to capture phantoms. Using her magical abilities, "Tisane" may combine the essence of a phantom with the wand to change it (temporarily) to a large sword, as pictured. "Tisane" is somewhat weak, but, since the majority of the sword is phantasmal, it is not very heavy and she has no trouble swinging it.
----------------------------------------------------

Really, the only design in this picture that I am set on keeping is the double-tier conical hat.

I apologize for the horrible anatomy.

Drawn with a Staedtler 925 25-05 mechanical pencil (my favorite!), colored and textured with GIMP (using a mouse).

Beautiful texture

So you have some nice "TEXTURE" in this especially the backround I like the subtle colors too that made this kind of fun here you really did make this subtle but thats what I like about, as for any advice on this piece I think just making more of this style would be a plus on things, its an amazing piece of art.

That strawhat makes me think of 'The' strawhats (as in Luffy, One Piece), even though the red band is pretty much the only similarity. I like the soft texturing on this piece, and the feet, very nice work on those feet! I usually don't notice feet btw, but they stand out somehow (well, at least they stand :P). Interesting character description to, and as for the mint sigil, are mint plants usually depicted as red circles? Feels strange with anything else than green related to mint, and a circle for that matter. Looks good though!

Krichotomy responds:

Hah, I started watching One Piece recently. I love that show. There is another similarity: Tisane and Luffy are both deformed. :P

You're making her blush, staring at her feet so intently like that.

Oh, I forgot that I replaced the mint. Here's the original: http://krichotomy.deviantart.com/art/Tisane-Touhou-OC-Concept-Art-471481852

Thanks!

There is something attractive about your style.

Though you state 'horrible anatomy,' the technical skill and the sensitivity you had toward the medium demonstrates a more conscious and purposed illustration. I mean, ZUN's illustrations are not comparable to the 'ideal' manga style; they have a unique charm. I particularly like this character's conceptual mix between a magician and a swords-woman. Though, I cannot imagine how this OC would operate in an danmaku battle. I reckon she'd be somewhat similar to Youmu yet employ more explicit ghastly qualities?

Whatever the case, the OC is creative. Not a Mary Sue by any interpretation, as there is evident thought.

Krichotomy responds:

Thank you. I think we feel similarly about this image. Despite the anatomical errors, a lot of "confidence" and "purpose" went into this drawing to create a consistent style that I am very pleased with.

My current ideas have this character primarily firing danmaku with the wand in it's default form, perhaps only unleashing the sword as a "bomb" attack (or, less directly associated to a game, as a "high-power close range attack").
