The lighting is really the strong point, and the armor design stands out nicely as an extension of the bird's feathers. The expression shows more wonder than of fear, which really makes for a stronger work. The feathers could use just a bit more detailing and realism, as the seem more like fur, but there is still a nice sense of them.
