My entry into Jazza's January Art Contest. Benz2015
Concept: The X-Men precariously flying on the X-Jet and taking a group selfie. I tried to mix generations of X-Men when creating the characters for this, however I always find myself going back to my favorite and most-watched installment: 'X-Men: Evolution.' Nightcrawler is based on that installment with the inclusion of the second films' scarification. Rogue is the most mixed taking the youthful head from Evolution along with the old-school outfit. It always bothered me to have Iceman with no facial hair essentially making him Ice-Boy, so I added a few years to him.
Process: Shooped 3 fisheye perspective photos together, gathered reference for a few hours on my amazing high speed internet connection (jk-jk ... it's awful), contours, polish them contours, make thicker contours in regards to perspective, did a completely different project to refresh my eyes, flats, textures and blended them, shading and blended it, picked at it for a few hours with what I didn't like, asked for more people to look at it, got frustrated that I didn't see a glaring issue, changed it, changed it back, blur effects et-cetera, changed it again, picked at it for another hour until wife said to be done with it. Done is better than perfect, but I am very satisfied with this. I'm hitting that milestone where I look at the piece after a while and it doesn't look like I did it.
TL;DR: I drew stuff. Look at it and rate what you think, plz!
