I really like them both
Top on has a more interesting design, but the bottom one has much better shading.
Therefore my preference still goes to the bottom one.

Which is first?
The design on top is certainly the more original of the two, but I like the deep shadows of the lower drawing. Very fitting. I believe your own comments may denote the same thing, but I don't know which of the two came first or second...
