Pretty damn cool!
“Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad
fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the
countenance it wore,
“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven,
thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering
from the Nightly shore—
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the
Night’s Plutonian shore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”
- Edgar Allan Poe
Pretty damn cool!
Thanks Toshi13go!
Nive done. Hear the sledges of the bell silver bells.
The Bells is my wife's favorite! =)
I love the storybook illustration this has, but it feels like an art piece at the same time (if that makes sense). The heavy fog is perfect for creating that obscure setting and blends in the lantern's light really well. What brush did you use to create it? Glad it did well at the convention, it's a very imaginative, well executed piece~
Thanks BluMiu! My process starts with a pencil sketch and I scan that in and paint mostly with the selection tool, the gradient tool and the round brush. If you're interested in learning more about that kind of painting process check out Chris Oatley's Magic Box.
Everything about this piece is wonderful. I especially love how you did the light sources.
Thanks Fancynutmeg! This was the best selling print from the convention I had a booth at last weekend. =)
