Realistic Pocket Monster

I don't like putting unfinished works on here, but I'm just too happy with this guy to keep him in the closet--he's the first thing I've finished in Zbrush, and it was just made a few months ago too. I'll finish texturing him and putting him in a real scene (against another pokemon) some day. Anyway, there was a topic on a forum where people were making Pokemon into 3D detailed characters, and this was my take on what a more realistic version of Squirtle would look like. The details aren't all that great but if you'd like to look at close-ups, here are some different shots http://dioccino.com/squir tdetails.jpg

Base mesh modeled in Softimage|XSI and completed in Zbrush3.5.

squirtlle!!!!

they should make a live action pokemon with todays effects we could pull it off

He looks better in 2D

But still nice

awessssssssssssssom

freakin awesome

Can't wait to see the finished version

Wow dude, great texture! Im curious now lol I wanna see bulbasaur and charmander

Dioccino responds:

Thanks! I'm in love with the texturing too. Honestly I was planning to make a scene of Squirtle versus Charizard--it'd be titled "Level 100 squirtle!?"

incredible.

the only feature that puts me off is the face and the small legs, other than that the body seems proportionate as well as the design of its shell.

all it needs is more support in the legs and the line decrease in facial area (it looks like a bird lol)

other than that its good!

Dioccino responds:

Y'know I also felt the line on the face was too strong, but you're the first to mention it--thanks! Technically some turtles do indeed have beaks, which is why I added it, but perhaps it doesn't need to be so defined. As for the legs, I was keeping the proportions consistent with the cartoon version as seen here:

But I suppose they should be thicker to support his body structure, as well as lengthening them and bending his knees more. Thanks for the suggestion!
