Alice in Wonderland (project for design class)

Share

So this is a project I've been working on in my design class, here's a terrible ipad camera quality picture...The paper was too big to scan on my printer so...Yeah. Here's before I color it. :P This took a long time to do.

*UPDATE: Colored Version*

I loved Alice in wonderland and now I might have to re-read it after seeing this. I almost enjoy your background more then the art itself, it's very colorful, much like the story. I can't wait to see your piece when it's finished, I'm loving how it's coming along so far!

GhoulKitten responds:

I love it too. :P And thanks, background IS part of the piece tho...lol. And it IS finished. I didn't wanna over do the background so, I colored it with pencils as if -wherever she walks, she brings the madness with her- kinda thing. :)

Hey cool, thanks for posting this! Looks great so far, especially with the incomplete eyes. Alice in Wonderland is such a dark coming of age story, it's almost fitting to leave her eyes blank like that for a creepy effect.

I'm teaching Art 10-12 this year and this looks like a really fun assignment. Could you go into detail about what you were being marked on and what the object of the project was? If not, no worries. Just curious since it looks fun!

GhoulKitten responds:

I thought the creepy blank eyes were nice too. I didn't wanna over-do the piece so I didn't color Alice, and I didn't do the rest of the background, so it's kinda like wherever she walks, she brings madness with her, idk.

And basically, what we had to do for this project was to use a grid or collage format to express texture, line, value, shape and balance, making any physical object of your choosing, for example, a dog, a person, a brick, anything... using grids or making a collage. I chose to use grids. And then I used, think it's called, pointillism, for Alice. I didn't want to loose her in all the craziness with the background.

Thanks for the comment, and good luck with your teaching. :D

Oh wow. And now you have to color.... ALL OF EET!?
(loved this movie as a kid)

GhoulKitten responds:

I am not coloring it all, I didn't wanna over do it. And yeah, I loved the movie as a kid, and now too. Haven't watched it in a while.
