Is good, That reminds me of a book I read

Very interesting character concept. I really like the radiant effects that you incorporated into your piece. The strange, demonic air (created with the fangs and the uneven redness of the background) is also very aesthetic. I like its long fingers and crossed legs as well. The saliva is also beautifully done. I should think this would be a rather strange sight to see in a swamp - however bio-diverse - and yet your back-story was very convincing (not to mention very well done). If anything, I would include some scientific terms to make your story all the more engaging (e.g. siliceous ooze, bioluminescence, heterotrophic, hominid, bipedal, etc.); you could also make up some words, like 'illumnivore' (i.e. 'light eater'). Perhaps the creature feeds on a specific plant which is bioluminescent. In any regard, this is a very interesting character background, and I would consider expanding it.

And as for the resemblance to the icon of Deadmau5, I'm going to guess that this was either coincidence or that you were subconsciously influenced by them... While it's possible you decided consciously to make a series of characters based off of that logo, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt.

The only thing I think is lacking in this is detail. While the lighting effects and light gradients certainly give this piece character, I think it's lacking in coherence to the background story you described; I'd much prefer to see this thing in your aforementioned swamp - doing whatever the hell it does - or in a spherical, transparent container of some sort.

What's that coming out of it's mouth? Just wondering.
