The sheets have been empty for some time so I sit staring at the moon
The shield has been cracked and I fear it had been far too soon
I sit in a room of laughter that I could not create
pressing myself inward to distance myself from you, the inevitable fate
and I reach further inside to inhibit my emotions whatever they may be
In order to lock myself cold, otherwise I will never be free
I cannot be miserable, I cannot be happy either at your side
because you cracked my shield like the rest who came and pried
so I sit here as I have the years, alone and silent as it were
uncertain what I want, where I go, locked inside and unsure
