How about a game that takes place in a steam-punkish, urban labyrinth where you have to shift between the "real" world and the game world in order to progress.. or even stay alive?

After playing Super Paper Mario, the idea of shifting between two planes of existence seems like a fun, exploitable gimmick. With all the fun ideas I've got for this concept, maybe it could become something one day.
