Character Concept Sheet: Xavier

This is some pretty old art of mine.

I had the idea of some steampunk-esque comic about a group of poor radical kids fighting the man. I never followed through. Figures, aye. This was supposed to be the main character. I started drawing a female as well - but, that's where i stopped. I had this whole wintery, steamy city in my head. I wanted to draw a robot into the team as well. Again, started, didnt finish. I have a finished and colored version of Xavier in a costume without the scarf and coat on. I should post it - i might - but it was one of the first big projects i did in photoshop and the background is really fucking cheesey and shit. I'unno...i might.

I don't know... I've always really liked looking at concept sketches - i like seeing the process. I really dig Intricate and perfectly lined mechanical sketches - Shirow Masamune (Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, etc) has some really wild stuff.

I like this.

You shouldn't shoot yourself down, because the talent is there. If you wanna make that comic then just do it. I don't know if I like the art style, but the concept seems interesting. Now I want to do some concept sketches for a series I'd love to animate. I have the script of the 1st and 2nd episodes done, but now I have to ANIMATE them. I really have to do it for myself because I practically never finish anything. So like, if it still means anything to you then maybe write a script... at least get that part done. From there you can decide what you wanna do with it.

I think you should finish, it's not that bad

Believe me when I say, chasing one passion is enough to handle. But really, once you take on that second one, it's really not so bad. You are a talented artist, and you should follow through on this whole idea. Don't waste your gift for art, bro, you've got too much to lose if you do.

If you do decide to follow through, let me know. I'm interested to see the finished product, so keep in contact please.

This might be the nicest and most real comment i've received on this website. Thank you for that. Like i stated in the authors comment - I've been making music for a good long while now. I had been drawing (still do, on occasion) since i can remember. I almost went to school for it. I sometimes wonder where I'd be at had i followed my initial passion. I really wish i would've some days - i mean - really i'd be doing the same thing i've been doing with music, now even had I gone to school for art. I'm glad you dig, man.

If i ever do decided to follow through - I'd be sure to contact you for sure. This gives me a bit of a push to draw out more ideas behind this.
