Phore the Eternal

Share

"Phore was but a simple farmer when the old Kingdoms fell. His plans of retiring from the army and finally living a quiet life were cut short in a freak tractor accident. Soon he learned that every time one civilization fell and another one took its place the God of the underworld would be replaced with whom ever would be the first to die under a new society. At first Phore was confused, but soon was taught how to harvest and reap, not unlike the profession he had aimed for, but in times of old death was everywhere, and every past Litch Lord was never without work. But Phore was different, Phore had fought for the freedom of his country men, and after so many years under tyrannical rule, the world, for the most part, was at peace.

There were no great plagues, no harsh winters, no massive battles a million men strong, no systematic genocide. no, there was nothing. Save for the most common of causes of death: old age, untreated wounds and illnesses, a slip on cow dung, and even a few other freak tractor accidents. So Phore sat in his throne day after day, so very bored out of his mind. He was a working man, but common work was boring work, he always aimed for bigger and better things, even when it came to common tasks, and there was nothing that excited him in the reaping of common souls. And so Phore quietly awaits the day that something interesting happens.

But deep down he does indeed sense something, it's an after thought at first, something to be pushed into the back of the mind to soon be forgotten. But it grows, it begins to nag at him, gnawing at his brain, or at least, what was his brain, and he can feel the winds of change brewing, and for once after centuries of boredom, he knows he'll be a very busy God soon enough."

New digital painting I did 'ere, took about... 12 hours over 2 days. Original character and back story. was pretty fun to do, and I learned a lot of about values, and using different brushes and textures to add flavor.
