Reviews for "Solus- For Schala"

nice nice nice

i agree the sax sounds better towrds the end. Overall however I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this piece.

SolusLunes responds:

Thank you. :D

Id rather be the 10th reviewer...

but i guess this works.

Some of the bass nortes during the main piano solo (before the pan flutes came in) seemed like they were leading to nowhere. I would have to see the composition in its entireity to give you any exact advice, but what goes up, must come down?

Ill agree with Khus that the saxs sounded like shit, haha. I also played sax, tenor... I thought they sounded nice at the end, but when they were intoduced in the beginning, they were too harsh. This song would like to see a harp.

The piano part was very nice and playable, a few stretches on the chords, but its all within reason. Good stuff Solus.
youre in my imagination

SolusLunes responds:

The bass notes were intended as a counter to the repetitive high notes, they were kind of the main melody of the piano solo.

I figured they deserved it. And fuck, I REMOVED THE LAWS OF GRAVITY FOR THE SONG.

FUCK YOU SAX IS SEXIER THAN YOU :D (and the harp sounds like shit here. >:( YOU LIED TO ME.)

HYAKUGOUICCHI

Tiny little too much verby verb on that piano, also saxes are terribly hard to make sound good even with the best VSTs, I recommend swapping it in for a flue or clarinet, as what you have written is a bit low for saxes, and listning to the rest of the track, I really don't think the saxy harsh tones suit the breathy, light style of the track anyway.

The writing itself though is wonderful, even if a little bit difficult (though still possible) for piano. I myself am bored of people writing totally impossible to play piano music thinking it's awesome when anyone with a trained ear can hear how difficult it is. This piano writing in this has a lovely waft of 20th century minimalism.

Personal preference here, I absolutely despise pan-pipes, not that anything is wrong with how you implemented them though. All too new-agey for me. Swap em for strings IMO.

Wonderful none the less, 5'd!

SolusLunes responds:

Yeah, that was one of the main reasons I wanted you to check out mah track- to see if I had written it impossible. I didn't think I had, but I was getting there :D

FUX YOU AND YOUR NON-LIKING OF THE PANPIPES. THEY ARE TEH AWESOME.

And I did swap the sax in for a flute + clarinet when I was writing this, and strings as well, and none of them just seemed to have quite the power of it.

Meh, maybe I'm biased- I'm a saxophonist anyways :D

A Solom Tune and Great Piano Work

Well lets see buddy. This is certainly a great piece, so beautiful and well rendered.

The piano work really started well and stayed with a constant flow of beauty and artistry. Remarkable.

It could just be my imagination but I think those strings don't do this piece justice. The woodwind you used was a nice touch... alittle shrill... but good none the less. And the trumpet surprised me but was a nice addition as well.

Overall, a great piece of work that shows a growing level of talent within you.

Take care mate.

SolusLunes responds:

After reading your review, yes, the strings DO bother me some.

I'll fix that and edit in teh version 2.0.

Personally, I think the pan flute was one of the most awesome things ever.

Well, except for the trumpet.

Hells yeah.

:D

Deep

All I can say is wow, this is an all around perfect piece. Great work.

SolusLunes responds:

Whoo, deep?

How deep? Fathoms, leagues? :D

Nah, I'm just fuckin. Thanks, though.
