Reviews for "under the stars tonight"

I don't know what Lunacy is referring to, but maybe he's talking about how I like to throw in every stupid idea in my work. Yeah that's probably it.
Anywho, that synth at 57 seconds, classic Johnfn from your days when you won the NGADM. Very tasty
And regarding any comments about being repetitive, I listen to Philip glass on a regular basis so I don't care.

I think it's that piano motif constantly going for two minutes that will bother people.
The last 30 seconds reminds me of the Beatles.
Hey this is still a fun listen

johnfn responds:

HAHA yeah the last section sounded like the beatles to me too! In fact I had a whole idea where that was going to be a chorus section i repeated a few times, but by the time I had the idea I was too sick to actually record half decent chorus vocals. So I gave up and stuck it on the end. Ssh dont tell anyone

if phonometrologist can do it then so can you

johnfn responds:

i can definitely do YOU

Not...what I expected out of you.

While creative, not what I am used to hearing. Its...un-nerving.
I'm remaining neutral in my rating and commentary at this time. Decent work regardless John.

johnfn responds:

unnerving? >:P

I love the nostalgic vibe you established. At times the song is quite emotional. There’s a lot of ear candy and always something interesting going on despite being a bit repetitive. Speaking of repetition, I understand your situation, but I’m not sure why you decided to make it 5 minutes in that case. I think this could easily be condensed to four minutes and sound much more impressive that way. I’m not fond of the juxtaposition of totally different reverbs; although it’s not always bad, in this dreamy song, I wanted the song to sort of take off from the ground at times, which I believe would be apt considering the theme, but the difference in reverb between different elements kept the song grounded. I found the very ending to be a bit boring. You’re a fantastic pianist and I think you could do something a little more interesting while returning to the root chord. This song has a lot of emotional appeal and I greatly enjoyed it despite my criticism. I’m glad you returned!

johnfn responds:

Actually the repetitive middle section is my favorite part! :> Also you didn't like my iv->I ending idea? >:( thanks for the review tho glad you (mostly) liked it!
