Reviews for "Allowed to Dream Reality"

"What key are we in?"

LucidShadowDreamer: yes

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Haha, I do tend to be guilty of that :'D
Thanks for listening!

Getting some massive early PlayStation vibes from this one! Must be my memory of the FFVII soundtrack coming back. We know a certain character's theme. 😁

This one feels a bit more enigmatic, somehow. My favourite part of this is the ascending and descending arp on the right hand, above the left-hand arp. This gives this piece its dreamlike feel, to me. And dreamlike pieces tend to have a special place in my heart, as you and yours may be aware by now. ☺️

Dynamics-wise, this feels varied, like I'm passing through different states of lucidity (pardon the pun about your name, though you'd perhaps think it was intentional).

pretty nice not much to say i like it and the style of dream fit that music pretty well
keep doing good work and have fun making your music :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you for the review! I will keep on having fun indeed :D

Woah. Really interesting harmonies at the beginning. Seems like you're using a lot of borrowed/applied chords. I really like the melodies at :45. Another unique thing about this piece is that there's a noticeably very wide interval between the voices; around 1:30, for example. Upon second listen, though, I might just think that because each line has such an unconventional contour. The breakdown at 2:23 works really well, and then the somewhat clashing chords at 2:41 sound rather calming. The piece ends with a somewhat tranquil, jazzy passage which I think did a great job of bringing these experimental "dreams" back down to earth. ;) Overall, really cool piece! I totally appreciate all the harmonic eccentricities here. Keep it up. ^_^

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Oh hi! Thanks for the review :DDD
I'm not sure if I'd call them borrowed chords or not, as there is no main scale. The scale changes with every chord (aside from a few exceptions), so I really don't know how else to describe it :p
I mainly use the same 4 chords, from 4 different scales.

I enjoyed reading your analysis of the different parts!

so peaceful..such a wonderful piece of art.
I'd like to use it for a project of my very own, could I use it? (sorry, Im new in Newgrounds, I don't know how exactly things work here xD)
