Reviews for "Gravity Slam"

Hhhuuu, that's good.

TSRBand responds:

Thanks! Glad you liked it :D

0_0 ohhhhh, that feels good.

TSRBand responds:

Thanks for listening!

I love the energy and frantic guitar riffs at the beginning. The snare sounds a bit thin and quiet in the mix. I also thought you could’ve used a smoother transition at 2:19. My main problem with the piece is that it sounds uniformly energetic, which made it hard to keep my attention after a while. I think you should add more distinction to different parts of the structure by doing more creative things with the instrumentation and by trying to play with dynamics and phrasing a bit more. I also don’t think the piece felt very conclusive by the end. You’re clearly a talented guitarist, but at this point the composition really needs to be more than just a compilation of intense riffs. That’s a bit harsh, of course - obviously, there’s a well-thought out arrangement to the piece, but you could really keep the listener grounded in that arrangement more with some variation in the energy and dynamics. Keep at it, TSRBand! :)

8/10

Thanks for the detailed review! Will be sure to keep experimenting :)

cool riffs, tho i'm not super sold on the harmonies.

this is a cool song, but i feel like the melodies could have been more effective somehow? like more catchy or riffy or headbangy? shrug i dunno. good stuff tho

TSRBand responds:

Thanks for the review! Definitely need to start tidying up those harmonies, will keep at it!

Sounds like there might be some tuning issues here and there. Also, drums sound very thin and synthy. They're panned well enough, but could use some more FX. Solid riffs, but it feels like it's really missing a solo laid overtop at some point. Mixing on the guitars is also really muddy. Also quite hard to hear the bass. At some point it starts to sound really garbled to me. Drums also seem to be hiding in the mix a bit. Compress them harder! The cymbals are only really audible because of the frequencies, I feel.

I can also hear where it sounds like the bass and guitar are mingling and clashing around the 200 Hz range. Need tighter mixing on the guitar.

The whole piece just feels like it's not tidied up. Sounds like a backing track. Ending was well executed though.

TSRBand responds:

Thanks for the tips! Will definitely have to keep them in mind for the future :D
