Reviews for "Horizon 6"

I really loved the colored retro pixellated style and the various sounds. That's fun to listen for the first time the little sound telling you that you have no more bullets. Why did you choose to deactivate the great music by default ? I also like the font ! Where did you find/buy it ? Alternate between low and high elevation might be more than visibility purpose. It's a good way to align baddies and do combos if we suppose that the laser goes through the mob. I see the hard work provided in the menus, leaderboard, animations... it's sleek! Great job.

PatrickOReilly responds:

Thanks so much for this valuable feedback. (I may have an update later based on this and other feedback with regard to the music and movement control.) I never thought of a combo idea, that would be very cool! Yes, for some reason working with the retro fonts is my favorite part, and if you dig into the devpak (phaser3-examples-master/public/assets/fonts), you will find a treasure trove of them there. Using them effectively can be a little tricky, not too bad, i can do a little tutorial if anyone needs help. Thanks again for the kind review. I'm pulling for your game to get the prize - it's a complete game experience well delivered.

nice game and love the old school graphics but the controls are confusing and hard to use

PatrickOReilly responds:

Thanks for the feedback and glad you like the oldskool. l will be working on a new flight sim game this one is basically a prototype for, so getting the controls right will be a big focus.

I love the technical skill you put into this game, and the olschool arcade aesthetic is totally my jam.

Shooting things feels great, but I'm still on the fence about the movement controls. They feel a bit better on mobile, but still doesn't always feel like I'm actually in control.

PatrickOReilly responds:

Ahhh, yes. That's pretty much where im at with it as well. I wanted to avoid a keybanger and have it simulate using a single joystick..pull back to climb, push forward to descend. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible and i was willing to sacrifice some control for casual elegance. The best set up is on mobile with a tracking stylus, like a galaxy note, its pretty elegant that way and ive gotten quite good at control. But just pure finger touch is clunky. But im glad you apreciate the aesthetic vision, i get the most enjoyment there with this prototype. I hope my next project can better realize a satisfying controlled vehicle.

Could use some music.

PatrickOReilly responds:

Thanks. I agree. I have a hard time deciding. I think I'll try some classic synthpop type jam. There is a floaty R&B type loop for the intro.
