Reviews for "Overlord's New Mansion"

I love how there's a secret when u collect all the coins

Edit: it would be so cool if you get a secret for not dying at all lol

I really like hard platformers, especially ones where you can quickly retry right away after failing. The fact that this one has some really adorable contextualization on top of that makes it even better, with the lovely retro pixel art and the sweet medieval-ish chiptune being the icing on the cake.

As an evil overlord who has just moved to his new evil castle, you need to go to the front door to get a pizza you ordered. However, to get there, you need to go through all the treacherous obstacles your own castle contains, meant for adventurers and heroes that might want to invade your domain.

The sarcastic NPC that follows you on your journey is a very, very mean ghost that mocks you every chance they can get. This little guy adds a lot of charm to the experience, and helps drive home the self-aware "clumsy overlord" feel of the game.

The game is hard, yes, but it is thankfully not too absurdly frustrating, since the levels are short and the game never forces you to go all the way back to the beginning unless you wanna try a different ending (as far as I know, there are two).

This is exactly the kind of game where you can feel yourself gradually becoming better after every death. In every new level, a new set of obstacles ahead of you requires you to learn new timing and positioning patterns, and as you gradually find the best way to get across every new obstacle, you can visibly notice yourself getting closer and closer to finally getting to the goal.

It took me 147-ish deaths to get the ending where you actually get to pay for the pizza, and I felt really good when I finally got there. It's games like this that can help people become better and better at video games in general, as long as they don't give up.

So yeah, this is quite good. I recommend this to people who want a hard, but not too hard, platformer.

Wow this is the longest comment I've got. Thanks a lot for spending some time to write down such a detailed review/synopsis, I appreciate you enjoyed it and provided a wide view about the game as a whole :)

Not the easiest game, per say. I got the golden skin though.

The humour is probably the best part of this game. The controls are... fine. The levels were chalenging and lenghty. The artstyle is simplistic and soft on the eyes. I give 5 stars. Great game.

great game but controls could be better
