nice.

It was good. I enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.

MaestroRage responds:

Thank you, and again for the review. Glad you liked it.

Must have missed it

Sorry I didn't review this sooner, I must have missed it when it was posted. Oops on my part.

Anyway, I must agree with madboss on this one. It produces a very japanese mood. The one instrument set that really cinches that feel is the strings set in the beginning. You hit it right on the money with that. Next on the list, is the woodwinds section. It might just be my computer playing tricks on me, but I can hear two distinct flutes in the song. One is in the foreground of the song, and it is the one you can hear most of the time. The other is in the background and an octive or so lower than the first. This deep echo effect sounds very mystical and fits with the image I see. Very good work on that.

As for the picture it brings to mind, that is both easy and hard to say. It is easy because I can see a samurai or warrior monk sitting in peaceful meditation, his spirit walking the hidden paths of the mind and the spirit realm while he rests his body. It seems to me that he is resting in preperation for battle against an oni (or perhaps more than one). It is hard because we all have our own views on what the spirit realm looks like. Personally I think this song would work very well for a samurai epic, right before the final battle where the hero faces off with his darkest foe.

I love this kind of song and I am very pleased with it. Thank you.

Oh, and in response to i2abbitz's comments, I detected no crackling whatsoever in the song and I am using noise cancelation headphones to listen to it. I think there is something wrong with his equipment.

MaestroRage responds:

There are two flutes in this. I am pleased you caught that! So very few (in fact... you being the first) have noticed that little trick!

There is also the Erhu Violin playing alongside the Dizi flute in this song, which sounds a lot like the woodwind, it is the one playing the lower end after the first mystical kick.

I am rather impressed by your imagery. I had never thought of it like that... but truly, it gives me a sense of peace, and allowed me to live another reality completely. I was so focused on the image, I could almost feel my hands coming together in meditation (in the image, me myself, was limp on the bed.)

In any case, I should thank you for that, it had been a long time since I was able to experience anything of that caliber.

I'm glad you liked it denver, thank you for the review.

Are you making money yet?

You're work is not Newgrounds material...I believe they could easily make money in big productions and movies. All of your work is great. You reviewed one of my works and gave helpful criticism, thanks ^_^ ...

Maybe we could talk some more? :D

MaestroRage responds:

I wouldn't mind at all talking with you. The reason I stick around newgrounds is because I love to tell a story through audio, and really you can't have this personal connection with listeners if you're up behind a wall of lawyers and labels.

That and when I first started making music I did so with the motto "Forever For Free". Any piece that comes purely from me will always be free to the public. There are some people who i'm working with who would prefer I didn't upload the works I make for them up here, but yeah, for the majority case, if I can help it, it's up here for everybody.

Thank you for the review, I hope we can talk sometime ^^. I'm glad you liked the piece.

captivating

Excellent atmosphere. The instrument choice for the melodic flute like instrument is superb and its level of expression is moving.

I thought the entry of the string section was extremely well done. The flow of the notes flawless, but do I detect some digital clipping?

Such an ephemeral mood evoked with the addition of the vocal. Thats what really got hooked on the track. Harmonizes beautifully with the flute and the low strings.

Well, another absolutely pro track man. Keep doing your thing!

MaestroRage responds:

There is more then likely some clipping on this piece, I put way too much treble in it, and will more then likely construct another version with the background chords louder and the flutes softer.

The choir was my favorite part too... I just enjoy a good choir so much.

Thank you for the kind and supportive words padman! I'll keep up the effort to bring more works to the public ^^. Thanks for the review, once again i'm glad you liked it!

Uga Buga Buga

Good One!

MaestroRage responds:
