Its a browser issue not an issue with the game. Seems like some browser updates completely stop saving from being able to work and instead freezes. There is a work around but it doesn't allow saving to happen. Whenever it freezes, right click on screen and click "play". It should continue the game.
Hope that helps. I don't really know a solution yet but... If I find one I will let you know.
I know for sure that it works in Google Chrome.
